Cast paper is a term that refers to the process of pressing layers of handmade paper pulp into a mould or over a textural composition, compacting the fibers, and removing as much water as possible by pressing with a sponge, and then allowing it to dry. Once the paper is dry, it is removed from the mould and can be used as it is or painted to create a work of art. Virtually anything can be cast without harming the original object. Manhole covers, antique glass and tin ceiling tiles are some of my favorite things to cast.
